The development of a CO₂ hub in Malmö has taken an important step forward. The Swedish Energy Agency has granted SEK 31 million to Nordion Energi through the national Industrial Leap (Industriklivet) program to complete the analytical work required ahead of a final investment decision in 2027.
The funding supports the joint ambition to establish an open hub for the capture, transport, and storage of CO₂ for all interested emitters in the region — a project in which Sysav is a key partner, and where the Port of Malmö has been identified as the optimal location for the hub.
This marks an important milestone in the collaborative effort to develop a full-scale CO₂ hub in Malmö, benefiting society, industry, and the local community. Sysav looks forward to continuing its constructive cooperation with Nordion Energi, CMP, E.ON, and Uniper, and will actively support the realization of a robust and scalable CO₂ infrastructure in the region.
With this new government funding, Malmö takes another step closer to becoming a leading Nordic hub for future CO₂ logistics. Sysav looks forward to continued collaboration in the years ahead.
